Ukraine and the World Bank launch a five-year, $200M reconstruction project preparation program.

The Government of Ukraine has signed an agreement with the World Bank to initiate the five-year PREPARE Ukraine program, which will fund the preparation of state and municipal reconstruction projects to meet international investors’ requirements and enable quick implementation. The program will be managed by the Agency for Public-Private Partnerships under the Ministry of Economy’s coordination. An initial grant of $44.3M from the Multi-Donor Trust Fund (URTF) will be used to develop a public investment portfolio and enhance institutional capacity.

PREPARE Ukraine transforms donor grants into specific projects ranging from rebuilding bridges and hospitals to launching new production facilities capable of integrating into global supply chains. The first tranche will be available starting in August and will support technical assistance for state clients, including developing the agency itself.

Additionally, Ukraine has signed a new bilateral cooperation agreement with Switzerland for recovery efforts. The agreement provides for long-term financial and technical assistance through 2036. Switzerland will support Ukraine with a total of CHF 5B, roughly €4.8B.
