The Council of the European Union decided to conclude an agreement with Ukraine on the recognition of foreign court decisions in civil and commercial cases, it announced on April 24.
This concerns contractual relations within the framework of the Hague Convention concluded in 2019. This document obliges participating states to recognize and enforce judgments rendered in civil or commercial matters in other participating states.
With this decision to recognize and implement each other’s decisions, ties between the EU and Ukraine will only strengthen, commented Swedish Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer.
As noted by the Council in 2022, Ukraine ratified the Convention, according to which contractual relations between Ukraine and the EU will be established on September 1, 2023.
