Ukraine and Poland discuss economic cooperation: development of interconnectors, new checkpoints, highways, and the export of agricultural products.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk discussed the further development of electricity interconnectors in addition to the interconnector between the Khmelnytskyi NPP and Rzeszów that has already been built. Politicians also addressed the need to build two more: Rivnenska NPP – Helm and Lvivska – Krosno.

“We also want to start constructing a new connector of our oil pipelines. The Brody – Adamovo Zastawa section could become part of a new route within the Euro-Asian oil transport corridor project,” Shmyhal stressed.

He also discussed with Tusk the creation of four new checkpoints on the common border and offered the Polish side the opportunity to participate in the construction of a Krakow-Lviv-Brody-Rivne highway. This would become a continuation of the longest Polish highway, which is part of the pan-European E40 corridor.

In addition, Ukraine offered Poland a mechanism for verifying the export of agricultural products following the European Commission’s decision, which is already working effectively with Romania and Bulgaria.
