Ukraine and Poland are close to signing an agreement on joint customs control and are discussing mutual licensing of agricultural product exports.

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Serhiy Derkach said, following the ninth Polish-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission meeting, that Ukraine and Poland are finalizing a draft of the agreement on joint customs and border control.

At the same time, the Ukrainian side called on Warsaw to find tools of influence to prevent any restrictions on the movement of vehicles at common checkpoints, including trucks with agricultural products.

Polish Minister of Agriculture Czeslaw Siekierski said: “We want to develop a method of protection against the negative consequences of importing agricultural products from Ukraine, which would be acceptable to all participants.”

He expressed hope for developing a mechanism for the mutual licensing of exported agricultural products and cooperation on the joint export of goods to third countries.
