As European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean said, funding applications will be considered on the same terms as for EU member states. According to Valean, the European Commission has already held a preliminary discussion with the Ukrainian contingent, followed by technical meetings to determine “the best projects that will be financed”.
Valean noted that the EC wants to ensure the future integration of Ukraine’s railway system into the EU’s transport system by deploying European-standard tracks to create a railway connection through Ukraine from Lviv to Poland and Iasi in Romania.
“The physical connection between the EU and Ukraine will open the door to Ukraine’s integration into the EU single market,” she is convinced.
