Sweden, Norway, and Finland have announced the allocation of €21.5M in contributions to the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P) fund, which will support critical municipal infrastructure and environmental investments in Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure reported.
According to Deputy Minister Oleksandr Butenko, energy efficiency in restoring these facilities is vital in order to bring them closer to European standards and ensure more economical energy use. Currently, €210M has been accumulated within the E5P fund in Ukraine.
E5P is a multi-donor fund to encourage investment in energy-efficient and environmental projects in the Eastern Partnership region.
In addition, at COP28, the G7+ countries and Ukraine launched the Clean Energy Partnership for sustainable recovery and reconstruction of the country’s energy system. The partnership brings together the government of Ukraine, bilateral donors, key international organizations, financial institutions, and private sector representatives.
