In August and September, Ukraine usually ships grain actively in all directions. But this year, ports and oil storage facilities are empty due to several factors that have affected the logistics market, according to brokerage company Spike Brokers.
“This year, we expect the lowest export of grain and oilseeds in the last eight years. Grain will move in smaller quantities, which generally characterizes the market’s liquidity,” experts predict.
It is noted that the war stimulated the development of alternative exports toward the Danube and overland. Ukraine increased its exports by land (road transport and railway) from 3% to 13%. As well, Danube exports grew from nothing to 11% after investments were directed to improving efficiency and reducing transshipment costs.
As of September 30, the beginning of the new marketing season, Ukraine has exported 10.295 million tons of grain crops (last year – 6.538 million tons), particularly wheat – 5.963 million tons, and corn – 2.748 million tons.
