The Weimar Triangle leaders have agreed to buy weapons for Ukraine with the proceeds from frozen Russian assets.

France, Germany, and Poland will create a coalition to provide Kyiv with long-range artillery and will use the proceeds from frozen Russian assets for this purpose, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced after a meeting within the framework of the Weimar Triangle with French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Berlin. Within the framework of the Ramstein coalition, the EU leaders will create a coalition to purchase long-range rocket artillery.

“We will use the proceeds from frozen Russian assets to buy arms for Ukraine“, Scholz said about the agreements.

He also reminded observers that the EU countries have agreed to provide €5B in military aid to Ukraine. The chancellor of Germany noted that the task for these countries was to preserve Ukrainian independence, not a war against Russia.
