President Zelenskyy held a press conference at the Ukraine. Year 2025 forum.
Here are the main points:
- The summit will take place in Kyiv on February 24 and a future meeting will be held in Europe: Thirty-seven leaders from various states will attend the summit in Kyiv, with 13 of them present in person, including leaders from Northern Europe and EU leadership. The president will also propose that the allies convene in a European capital to discuss the format of Ukraine’s security guarantees.
- Security guarantees: These should be included in the subsoil agreement. “I am not ready to sign something that future generations will be paying for decades. Trump isn’t permanent, and we need peace for many years,” the president emphasized.
- Defense needs: Ukraine requires 20 Patriot air defense systems. “If the US provides that much, we will consider it an investment in the mineral fund,” the president explained. Additionally, Ukraine is developing alternatives to the Patriot system.
- Ending the war: The US will do everything it can to conclude the hot stage of the war in 2025. However, resolving the conflict this week with satisfactory security guarantees for Ukraine is impossible. “I don’t know how this can be achieved without Ukraine’s involvement,” Zelenskyy said in response to comments from a Trump spokesperson.
