By the beginning of October, gas reserves in Ukraine’s storage facilities will reach 15.5 billion cubic meters. In addition, there are agreements with the US to receive two billion cubic meters of gas as well as ongoing negotiations with Norway for further gas provision to Ukraine. As Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal explained, this will allow a stable supply of gas for the heating season. Ukraine is also increasing its coal reserves. Currently, 2.2 million tons of coal have been accumulated. By the beginning of the heating season, the stockpile will equal 2.5 million tons, the maximum that can be stored in warehouses. The head of the government added that alternative types of fuel, such as wood, are also being actively collected.
