The US Senate released a $118B bipartisan proposal for aid to Israel, Ukraine, and enhanced border security. The document provides the following:

  1. $60.1B —aid to Ukraine
  2. $14.1B — aid to Israel
  3. $22.2B —increased security at the southern American border

It also includes money for humanitarian aid in war-torn regions and defense operations in the Red Sea and Taiwan. The main difference in this document is a $13B increase in border protection funding. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that a vote is scheduled for February 7.

Assistance to Ukraine will be directed as such:

  1. $14B– for the purchase of new weapons from American companies
  2. $15B — military training for Ukraine’s Armed Forces, exchange of intelligence, etc.
  3. $20B — to replenish military stocks in the US
  4. $8B — for direct budgetary support of Ukraine, in addition to financing pensions
  5. $1.58B —for macroeconomic support

However, there are a few lawmakers who oppose the bill. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson, said, “If the bill reaches the House of Representatives, it will be already dead.”
