US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the G7 countries and their partners are determined to provide Ukraine with everything it needs to successfully conduct military operations in 2025 or hold peace talks with Russia from a position of strength. He stressed that the US continues to increase its military assistance to Ukraine in order to improve its defensive capabilities, particularly in the country’s east, where intense fighting continues. Separately, the official expressed concern about North Korean troops participating in the war on Russia’s behalf, noting that this aspect is of grave concern among the G7 countries.
Blinken emphasized that Ukraine’s struggle has global significance: “Ukraine is fighting for us. It is fighting not only for itself; it is fighting for all of us.”
Blinken also confirmed that the G7 countries are finalizing a $50B loan to Ukraine, secured by frozen Russian assets. The loan is planned to be provided by the end of this year.
