The US promises to pressure Russia to renew the grain agreement; Turkey to continue its dialogue with all parties.

Зернову угоду обговорять у Стамбулі 5 травня: без домовленостей вона зупиниться за два тижні.

The US government’s position was voiced by the State Department’s spokesperson, Matthew Miller. He added that the US does not believe Russian explanations for withdrawing from the agreement. According to him, the export of Russian grain and fertilizers was at one of its highest levels during the initiative. Miller emphasized that the US would continue to explain to the rest of the world that Russia was responsible for the agreement’s failure and the bombing of Ukrainian ports.

“We call on countries that depend on grain exports from Ukraine to exert diplomatic pressure on the Russian Federation,” the official emphasized.

Turkey, in turn, announced that it would continue contact with all parties to restore the Black Sea Grain Initiative. The country’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized that Turkey’s priority is to preserve peace in the Black Sea region and prevent anything that endangers it.
