The administration of US President Joe Biden is considering supplying Ukraine with ATACMS ballistic missiles with new modifications that provide a longer range than previous such missiles, reports NBC News.
According to the publication’s authors, if Congress approves additional funding for Ukraine, the US may include the new ATACMS in one of the first military aid packages this year. At the same time, Washington is ready to send ammunition and artillery to Kyiv. Also, Washington can negotiate with allies to provide Ukraine with missiles and replenish the US stockpile of ATACMS.
At the same time, Pentagon representatives specify that the US has a limited supply of ATACMS and that the missiles are likely to be sent to Ukraine with the US then replenishing its arsenal.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said he devoted most of his meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Munich to discussing Ukraine’s need for longer-range weapons.
