The Offices of the Inspectors General of the US Pentagon, the State Department, and USAID have released the Joint Strategic Oversight Plan for the 2023 fiscal year that outlines assistance that will be provided to Ukraine. “However, Congress can’t just write checks; we must also ensure transparency and efficiency in using American aid following US national security interests. We look forward to hearing findings and recommendations from the inspectors general on how to strengthen oversight of these funds and how to replenish US stockpiles promptly,” said Republican congressmen Michael McCaul and Mike Rogers in a statement supporting increased oversight of US aid to Ukraine. At the same time, they called on the US and its allies to provide Ukraine with urgently needed weapons, including Leopard tanks, ATACMS, and other high-precision, long-range munitions.
