The US Congress approves the transfer of the Russian Federation’s frozen assets to Ukraine.

According to Republican congressman Michael McCall, who introduced the relevant document for consideration, this bill requires the Biden administration to hand the aggressor’s frozen sovereign assets over to Ukraine.

“We need a plan to win as quickly as possible, and this plan must ensure that the US does not carry this burden alone. That is why I introduced a bill to restore economic prosperity and opportunities for Ukrainians. It is time for Russia to pay for the war it has started,” said McCall.

The bill stipulates that the Secretary of State, together with the USAID, within 180 days after the law enters into force if it is passed, must provide the appropriate congressional committees with “an assessment of Ukraine’s most urgent needs for recovery, security assistance, and humanitarian assistance.”

The bill also makes it impossible to return these assets to Russia until it pays compensation to Ukraine.
