The US announces $2B in aid for investments in the Ukrainian defense industry and is preparing to sign a security agreement.

The US will allocate an additional $2B in military funding to Ukraine, State Secretary Antony Blinken said at a briefing with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in Kyiv.

Blinken noted that support will be provided for investment in Ukrainian industry. As Blinken clarified, a first-of-its-kind fund for defense enterprises, the Defense Enterprise Fund, will be created to implement this support.

In addition, according to him, a bilateral agreement on security guarantees between Ukraine and the US will be signed within a few weeks. Blinken clarified that the “hard work” regarding the agreement has already been completed, and the parties are finalizing the text.

The US Secretary of State also did not rule out a possible meeting between President Joe Biden and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the Peace Summit in Switzerland.
