As US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has noted, the lack of additional funding from the States will be a problem for Ukraine, the US, and the world.
“Of the money we are asking for, $50B will be spent directly in the US to purchase military supplies for the defense of Ukraine. These are American jobs“, the politician said.
In turn, the US special representative for the reconstruction of Ukraine, Penny Pritzker, believes that frozen Russian assets would be an “easy” source of money for Kyiv. But a “legal rationale” is needed, as well as legislation and a decision on who will control the process.
The Vice President of the EC, Valdis Dombrovskis, insists on the quick adoption of a decision to provide Ukraine with €50B.
“Ukraine needs this funding urgently, and the EU must fulfill its obligations. Therefore, we do not have time to delay the adoption of the Ukrainian Fund,” he emphasized.
