The UN Development Program plans to implement a project by the start of winter to increase the capacity of Odesa’s energy infrastructure with a price of more than $50M. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted the quick response by the coordinator of the UN system in Ukraine, Denise Brown, and the work of the representatives from UN agencies, funds, and programs in Ukraine to overcome the humanitarian consequences of Russian aggression in the city of Odesa and the region’s port infrastructure.

Six UN agency offices are operating in Odesa today, supporting the government of Ukraine and local authorities in humanitarian response and recovery. In addition, the UN Development Program is working to expand Odesa’s energy infrastructure by installing alternative energy sources to ensure energy supply to utilities and the city’s critical infrastructure.
