The highest results were shown by banks that preferred NBU certificates of deposit, the Standard-Rating Agency reports. In the first half of 2023, the quality of banks’ loan portfolios declined.
As of July 1, 2023, the average share of non-performing loans (NPL) in bank portfolios in Ukraine was 38.94%. The agency notes that the level of NPLs in the credit portfolio of banks has stabilized, and its further growth is unlikely.
The banking system’s total profit for 2022 was equal to UAH 24.7B, and for the first half of 2023, this number was UAH 67.65B, of which UAH 41.2B went to PrivatBank. The activities of state-owned Ukrgasbank and Ukreximbank also remained profitable.
