Ukrainian airport infrastructure is ready to support reopening the country’s airspace. Still, this requires confirmation from the Ukrainian military that it can ensure safety for a single airport, and along the relevant air routes, said Bohdan Dolintse, a member of the Public Council under the State Aviation Service.
According to him, when talking about reopening an airport, first, it is necessary to conduct a security audit and, based on its results, assess the risks for each type of airport. At the same time, he noted that the weakening of the enemy’s air dominance directly affects the reopening of airports.
The expert believes that “Today, airports have confirmed their technical readiness to reopen. From an economic point of view, it is safer to start with airports closer to the borders with the EU and resume air transportation of cargo from the beginning, and then consider the possibility of resuming passenger transportation“, he added.
