Industry expert Volodymyr Vlasyuk said that the share of imported building materials in the Ukrainian market increased from 14% in 2021 to 23% in 2023. According to the expert, the state stimulates demand and is increasing its purchases for defense and reconstruction projects.

Therefore, Vlasyuk emphasizes that, in the future, materials purchased by the government with both internal and donor funds should be sourced, as much as possible, from Ukrainian producers.

At the same time, Pavlo Kachur, head of the Ukrcement Association, said that cement consumption in Ukraine increased by 17% last year compared to 2022, up to 5.4 million tons.

“A similar jump is not predicted this year, but we will probably get six million tons of domestic cement consumption,” he said.

At the same time, Ukraine exported 1.24 million tons of cement last year and imported 23,000 tons of special cement that is not produced in the country. Ukraine’s cement production potential is 13.6 million tons.
