The Russians have lost one-third of their ground combat force in Ukraine.

In its latest defense intelligence update, the ministry said Russian troops had sustained heavy losses in their Donbas offensive and that “under the current conditions, Russia is unlikely to dramatically accelerate its rate of advance over the next 30 days.” The ministry assessed that the offensive has “fallen significantly behind schedule. Russia has failed to achieve substantial territorial gains over the past month, despite small-scale initial advances, while sustaining consistently high attrition numbers. Russia has now likely suffered the loss of one-third of its ground combat force it committed in February,” the ministry added on Sunday. A UK intelligence assessment said delays in Russian operations will “almost certainly be exacerbated by the loss of critical combat enablers such as bridging equipment and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance drones.”
