As a result of the Russian attack on Chernihiv on August 19, 148 people were injured, and seven died. Most of the victims were in vehicles or crossing the road at the time of the impact and were returning from church. More than 60 houses around the epicenter of the strike were damaged.
President Zelenskyy promised a tangible response to Russia for the attack on Chernihiv. On the night of August 20, explosions rang out in the Moscow region. Mayor Sobyanin confirmed the attack on the capital, but according to him, Moscow’s air defenses repelled the attack. That same night, two Russian international airports, Vnukovo and Domodedovo, did not accept flights.
Moreover, a Ukrainian drone also attacked Kursk and crashed into the roof of the railway station injuring five people and causing a fire. Later that day, the Russian officials announced the downing of three drones over the Rostov region, two of which fell on the territory of a military unit.
