Following the EU-Canada summit, Charles Michel said: “We support and will support Ukraine as long as necessary. From the EU side, we have already provided €83B to support Ukraine in various areas and are ready to do more. EC plans to approve additional solutions in the coming weeks, and I am optimistic in this sense, together with our member countries.”
He added that the upcoming EU leaders’ meeting will discuss further sanctions against Russia. The EC’s forthcoming meeting in December in Brussels might be historically crucial for Ukraine. In particular, the leaders of the EU countries will decide on creating the €50B Ukrainian Fund within the framework of the multi-year EU budget for 2024-2027.
Another important result from the summit would be the EU’s decision to start negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova regarding membership.
