Polish Minister of Agriculture Czesław Siekierski and representatives from the “Deceived Village” movement signed an agreement to unblock the Medyka-Shehyni crossing point. The Polish government promised to satisfy all the farmers’ demands. These include one million zlotys in corn subsidies, an increase in lending by 2.5 billion zlotys, and maintaining tax rates at 2023 levels.
At the same time, Polish European Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski will demand the introduction of certain restrictions on importing poultry and sugar from Ukraine in the next decision to extend the EU’s free trade regime with Ukraine.
According to him, the impact from the large amounts of oversupplied imports from Ukraine is felt in almost all EU countries, and sugar producers are already complaining to the European Commission.
