The Pentagon is not against other countries transferring F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine,

according to a high-ranking official from the US Department of Defense, wrote Politico. The publication drew attention to the fact that after Great Britain and the Netherlands announced the start of an international coalition to purchase F-16 for Ukraine, the pressure on the White House in this context increased.

London announced that they would train Ukrainian pilots to fly modern fighter jets. Belgium followed the British example. And the Netherlands is switching from the F-16 to the F-35, which will make it possible to release dozens of fighters in the coming years.

However, countries that have purchased F-16s or any other weapons system from the US must first obtain Washington’s approval before transferring them to a third country.

American lawmakers support the provision of fighter jets. A group of congressmen from Democrats and Republicans called on US President Joe Biden to unblock the supply of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
