On July 19, the United States officially announced the allocation of an additional $1.3B for a new defensive aid package for Ukraine. It contains NASAMS air defense systems and munitions, artillery shells, Phoenix Ghost and Switchblade drones, TOW missiles, and anti-UAV assets. The announcement marks the beginning of concluding contracts for priority military assets.
A separate $400M aid package is also in line, which will include more ammunition for NASAMS air defense systems, Patriot missile systems, and HIMARS installations, reported the US Department of Defense. It will also contain artillery munitions that are in short supply but essential to a sustained Ukrainian counteroffensive. In addition, the package may include anti-tank weapons, such as Javelin complexes and TOW missiles. The package is not yet complete so it may change.
