The Nordic and Baltic countries have called on all Europeans to help Ukraine achieve peace from a position of strength.

This was stated by Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen and co-authored by the foreign ministers of Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden. The article notes that the Nordic and Baltic countries combined comprise the second largest global military donor to Ukraine after the US, which is a sobering thought.

“How could it be that eight small Nordic countries are leading in such support? The future of European security hangs in the balance, so it is time for all of Europe to step up,” the diplomats stressed.

They are convinced that before discussing post-war plans, Europeans should do everything possible to help Ukraine achieve peace from a position of strength.

“We need to provide greater military support as soon as possible to strengthen Ukraine and deter Russia from further aggression. Europe must take on greater responsibility. Then we will become a strong partner for the US. We will become indispensable in future negotiations only by increasing our own efforts,” the ministers argue.
