The top manager of the British company Ferrexpo plc, Nick Bias, said: “We name 2030 as a potential date for Ukraine to join the EU. Recently, a green production agreement was signed, and steel producers must reduce their emissions by 50% by 2030 and by 95% by 2050. And this puts additional demands on the products we produce. An interesting aspect of this growth is that the obstacles appear from the side of legislation, not the market”.
According to him, Ukraine should eliminate these legislative obstacles, and integrating Ukrainian enterprises into European production chains will hasten Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
“In the dynamics of Ukraine’s relations with the EU, we see that the EU needs you. We cannot ensure the green production of metal products without imports from Ukraine. I am sincerely convinced that trade precedes politics. We have a clear example that Europe needs trade with you, and politics will follow it,” he emphasized.
