The IMF sees grounds for preparing a full credit program for Ukraine.

Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund

Ukraine and IMF experts agreed on revising the Monitoring Program with the participation of the Board of Directors. This will pave the way for the start of discussions on a full-fledged program supported by the IMF, the organization noted. It should be noted that the Ukrainian Government and the National Bank fulfilled all quantitative and indicative tasks at the end of December and all five structural benchmarks by the end of January. “A full-fledged IMF program would support the Ukrainian government’s efforts to join the EU. It is necessary to promote reform initiatives to increase the productivity and competitiveness of the private sector to help lay the foundation for strong post-war growth amid progress on the EU accession path,” the IMF emphasized. The head of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, said that the fund will complete the preparation of Ukraine’s support program in a few weeks.
