The IMF financing program for Ukraine may start in March.

This forecast was made by the Deputy Director of the IMF, Vladyslav Rashkovan. Rashkovan added that this program will become part of the reconstruction process and help build a “microfinance framework” for other donors. Rashkovan further explained that the approved monitoring program, with the participation of the Board of Directors for Ukraine, contains conditions that should demonstrate to other donors and partners that Ukraine is capable not only of fighting Russia but also of implementing changes in its policy in the current difficult conditions. In particular the goals are to make a macro-correction, bring the economic situation to order, reduce the budget deficit, prevent monetary financing next year, and work more with donors. According to the IMF, the level of uncertainty with the current situation is very high, but the program is for four months, during which it is necessary to demonstrate that Ukraine is capable of implementing complex programs.
