The World Bank has announced $200M in grant financing for a project that will repair Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Electricity transmission line high voltage power distribution system

The Ministry of Energy and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) discussed the implementation of an energy storage project, which had been planned before the Russian invasion. Considering the military challenges and risk of damage to the energy infrastructure, its relevance has only increased.

The parties discussed the possible stages of implementation, the necessary investment volumes, and the importance of developing this energy sector, which will increase the energy system’s sustainability and stability.

Electricity storage systems can significantly balance the energy system, which is extremely important for Ukraine. It is also an essential step in implementing the Energy Strategy, presented by the Minister of Energy German Galushchenko, regarding the development of green energy generation infrastructure.
