The IAEA keeps negotiating with Russia to create a safety zone around the ZNPP.

Director General of the IAEA, Raphael Grossi, held another round of negotiations in Moscow regarding creating a demilitarized zone around the Zaporizhia NPP captured by the Russians. According to him, diplomatic efforts to develop a nuclear safety zone around the Zaporizhzhya NPP are moving forward, intending to agree and implement this necessary measure soon. Earlier, Grossi discussed this idea with high-ranking Ukrainian officials in Kyiv. In addition, the IAEA is preparing to deploy expert groups permanently at four other nuclear facilities in Ukraine – the Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, and South Ukrainian NPPs, as well as the Chornobyl NPP, as agreed upon by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Raphael Grossi last week. These missions aim to provide technical assistance to maintain safety and reduce the risk of a nuclear incident or accident.
