The G7 countries will assist Ukraine in securing a $15B loan from the IMF.

Ukraine will negotiate a full-fledged program with the IMF.

International Monetary Fund

According to Bloomberg, the IMF has been actively discussing the program with the US Treasury Department in recent days. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said at the G20 summit that the US supports a new IMF loan program for Ukraine in addition to $10B in US aid. However, she stressed that the IMF must move quickly toward implementing the program. On February 20 the head of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, met in Kyiv with the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Serhiy Marchenko. According to him, Ukraine still needs $10B to fully cover the 2023 budget deficit and initiate economic recovery. To that end, this week the governments of the Big Seven countries will intensify their work with the IMF and Ukraine.
