The former head of Ukrenergo and Dragon Capital is launching a new project in Ukraine to build 150 MW of energy capacity at a cost of $30M.

Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, the ex-head of state energy company Ukrenergo, along with entrepreneur Andriy Nemyrovskyi and Dragon Capital, which is led by Tomasz Fiala, are developing an energy project that includes energy storage systems, gas generation, and renewable energy.

The project’s total investment is $30M, financed by Dragon Capital. Kudrytskyi and Nemyrovskyi, managing the Negen development company, serve as operating partners. In the first phase, they plan to develop 60 MW of capacity through gas-fired power plants and energy storage facilities. Overall, they aim to reach 150 MW of capacity during 2025-2026.

Additionally, Ukraine intends to roll out approximately 900 MW of new decentralized generation capacity this year. Already, 130 MW of cogeneration plants and 250 MW of thermal plants have been commissioned. The government is also re-building damaged facilities – about four GW of thermal and hydropower capacity were restored last year.

International partners have already contributed over €1.1B to the Energy Support Fund.
