According to the current plan, Ukraine will receive the first 10 of the promised 31 Abrams tanks in mid-September, reported Politico. Ten 70-ton tanks are in Germany in the final stages of repair, and as soon as they are completed, they will be sent to Ukraine.

In parallel, the Pentagon signed a $192M contract with Raytheon Missiles and Defense to supply Ukraine with medium-range AMRAAM missiles. The agreement provides for the purchase of weapons from various sources and will be completed by November 29, 2024. The rockets will be bought using funds from the Initiative for the Promotion of Security in Ukraine.

Moreover, the Biden administration will send armor-piercing ammunition containing depleted uranium to Ukraine for the first time. The shells, which Abrams tanks can use, will be part of a new $240-375M aid package to be announced this week.
