The EU’s 6th package of sanctions should include a ban on Russian oil.

The European Union must include a ban on Russian energy imports in the sixth package of sanctions currently under development, stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a video address to the Seimas of Lithuania. “We can’t wait for the development of the seventh, eighth, tenth, or twentieth package, and we need to make really powerful decisions in the sixth package of sanctions. The European Union can do it and must include oil, necessarily authorize the exclusion of Russian banks, but all parts of the package must be substantial, there is no need for demonstrations,” Zelenskyy said. He stressed that even after the massacres in Bucha and other cities, knowing about the deportation of Ukrainian civilians, and watching the deliberate destruction of peaceful cities by Russian missiles and bombs, some EU countries cannot decide when they will at least significantly limit the purchase of Russian energy.
