The European Commission is ready to become the secretariat for managing all international assistance for Ukraine’s reconstruction, said the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in Berlin. According to von der Leyen, an international coordination platform for reconstruction must be launched as soon as possible – by the end of the year or at the beginning of the next. Von der Leyen reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to helping Ukraine, starting with assistance for the country’s daily survival, including the payment of salaries and pensions, and ending with post-war reconstruction and modernization. She officially announced that the EU will allocate €1.5B to Ukraine monthly to finance the state budget deficit.
