 EU agriculture ministers discussed assistance to Ukrainian farmers in Brussels and ways to compensate for the loss of Ukrainian crops. EU agriculture ministers want to adjust food production in their countries to compensate for the losses caused by the war in Ukraine. Global bottlenecks are expected in the coming months, Austrian Agriculture Minister Elizabeth Koestinger said at a meeting of her colleagues in Brussels this Monday. She welcomed the European Commission’s proposal to temporarily allow the use of uncultivated land. These areas will now grow fodder crops such as soybeans and corn to reduce dependence on imports from Ukraine.
