The European Commission announced the package as senior officials hosted a meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Brussels. The EU signed a deal with Ukraine on Monday to release €500M in planned aid. According to the spokesman of the European Commission, Eric Mamer, the EU grant funding will help ensure housing and education for internally displaced persons and returnees as well as support for Ukraine’s agriculture sector. Moreover, other agreements with Ukraine will also be signed within the council’s framework. Among them is an agreement on Ukraine’s participation in the EU’s Digital Europe program and an agreement that will allow Ukraine to participate in their tax program.
