The EU is ready to open all negotiation clusters for Ukraine's European integration this fall.

European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos praised Ukraine’s progress toward its Eurointegration, stating that the country is doing remarkably well. The decision to open negotiations requires unanimous approval from the European Council. Technically, the EU is prepared to move forward. Concerning Hungary’s veto, which has blocked the opening of the first cluster, Kos pointed out that EU countries agreed a year ago to start accession talks with Ukraine, a decision supported by Budapest. Consequently, there are no substantial reasons to delay opening the first cluster. Kos emphasized that it should happen promptly, as Ukraine has fulfilled all necessary requirements.

The commissioner mentioned survey data showing Ukraine is the most favored candidate for EU accession in 14 of 27 EU nations, with 91% of Swedes supporting it, along with 81% of Danes and Finns, and 72% of Lithuanians.

Additionally, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Olha Stefanishyna, stated that the country is prepared to open the first three negotiation clusters in July or to start with the first one together with Moldova. She is confident all clusters will be opened this year.
