The EU imposed severe sanctions yesterday on Belarus banning purchases of its top exports — oil and potash — and banning most financial links,

including trading in bonds on the secondary market. By forbidding EU companies from handling Belarusian potash, the EU is forcing the land locked country to export its fertilizer through Russia, reports Reuters.
