The EU has no plan B to commence membership negotiations with Ukraine. Still, there is hope that the decision on further funding will be adopted at the summit of the European Council on December 14-15, a European official told journalists.
In its turn, the Ukrainian Parliament called on the EU to decide on the start of negotiations at the meeting of the European Council. The Ukrainian Parliament asks for support to ensure its macro-financial stability, and to approve the Ukraine Facility program, increase the provision of military aid, and support reconstruction.
Meanwhile, the head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orbán, said that Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in the world and once again spoke out against the start of negotiations on its accession to the EU. He says the Ukrainians are “not ready for negotiations,” and the Europeans “are not ready to accept them.”
