The EU and Ukraine’s joint energy security depends on the diversification of energy sources.

Ukraine and the EU are shaping a new energy reality. They are laying the foundations of a new energy architecture, which involves using many sources of generation to ensure the energy balance, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Yaroslav Demchenkov said during the 13th European-Ukrainian Energy Day conference in Vienna. “It is necessary to create an energy balance where there will be no critical dependence on one type of generation. The nuclear power plants of France and Ukraine, wind power plants of Great Britain, solar power plants of Spain and the Netherlands, biogas plants of Germany, Italy, and the Czech Republic, and LNG terminals of several countries should work for joint energy security with access to the sea,” explained the deputy minister. In addition, Demchenkov stated that energy security and sustainability can be ensured though green energy, wind and solar plants, small modular nuclear reactors, biogas, and green hydrogen.
