The Canadian government announced the allocation of new military aid to Ukraine in the amount of CAD 39M ($28.9M). The package consists of 40 sniper rifles, 16 radios, and a CAD 34.6M contribution to the NATO fund to provide assistance to Kyiv.
Canada announced this round of aid amid defense minister Anita Anand’s participation in a Ramstein-style meeting in Germany. Anand also confirmed that all eight Leopard 2 tanks that Canada pledged to Ukraine have already been delivered to Poland.
In addition, at the Ramstein meeting Latvian Defense Minister Inara Murniece said that her country will give Ukraine all its Stinger air defense equipment.
However, the US remains reluctant to discuss the provision of modern Western attack aircraft. General Mark Milley noted that the issue of F-16s or any other fourth-generation aircraft from any country “is a political one” and will move forward through political leaders.
