The ECHR consolidated the cases involving the Russian seizure of the Donbas in 2014 and the full-scale invasion.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR)

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) merged the cases Ukraine and the Netherlands v. Russia (the seizure of the Donbas) and Ukraine v. Russia (the full-scale invasion) into one proceeding. The Ministry of Justice says that this will provide the following advantages: it will speed up the consideration of the full-scale invasion, streamline the process of considering both cases, ensure that the court examines the case in a more global context, and guarantees the effectiveness and completeness of the decision. In addition, it will increase the weight of the case before the global community. The decision to combine the cases opens a new page in the history of the ECHR. The Ukrainian agency noted that the court has never considered cases on such a large-scale that are considered essential for the international community and legal order.
