The Biden administration is preparing its final military aid package for Ukraine.

Italy, Portugal, and New Zealand have announced new defense package support amounting to several billion dollars.

The Biden administration is preparing its final military aid package for Ukraine.

The Biden administration will announce a massive, final weapons package for Ukraine on Thursday as part of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s visit to Germany to meet with representatives from about 50 partner nations at the Ramstein meeting.

According to WP, the amount of aid has not been provided, but the package was expected to be “substantial.” However, it would not include the roughly $4B left in the congressionally authorized funding for Ukraine.

On Tuesday, officials briefing reporters traveling with Austin said that the incoming Trump defense team would likely have “more than a couple of billion dollars” remaining to provide to Ukraine if it chooses to do so.

The package to be announced on Thursday will be drawn from existing stockpiles in order to deliver most of the weapons pledged to Ukraine by the time Trump is sworn in., a defense official said.

Ukraine is launching a second offensive in Russia’s Kursk region, intending to put itself in the strongest negotiating point possible before US President-elect Donald Trump takes office on January 20.
