Sweden will provide a large aid package to the Ukrainian defense forces; Lithuania mulls allowing troops to be deployed to Ukraine.

Sweden's Defence Minister Pal Jonson

Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson announced that the country has agreed to deliver its largest aid package to Ukraine to date, valued at SEK 13.5B ($1.23B). This marks Sweden’s 18th military package since Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine.

About $90M is expected to be designated for Ukrainian production of long-range missiles and drones. The package also includes armored vehicles and other weaponry. According to the minister, the government is negotiating with suppliers in Sweden and Europe to procure priority equipment, such as artillery and drones.

Meanwhile, the Lithuanian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief, Raimundas Vaikšnoras, believes Lithuania should consider sending its military to Ukraine for a peacekeeping mission. In his view, as a member of the EU and NATO, Lithuania should take on some responsibility for European stability.

“If you ask whether Lithuania could, then we will likely consider it. There will be a discussion,” the general stated.
