Several projects are being implemented in Ukraine to improve energy efficiency and energy independence for communities.

The State Agency for Reconstruction has begun collecting applications from territorial communities to replace two million streetlights with energy-efficient models and also wants to equip 70 water utilities with solar power plants. This project, like social housing construction, will be one of the agency’s priorities in 2025.

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated ₴250M ($6M) to the agency to continue its pilot project to construct main water pipelines and eliminate the negative consequences associated with the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP, extending the project implementation period until June 2025.

At the same time, Ukraine and Italy will develop technical and financial cooperation to supply water to frontline Ukrainian regions.

A corresponding memorandum of understanding will be concluded soon. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine and Japan has transferred energy equipment to Kharkiv and Odesa, which will help meet the needs of critical infrastructure facilities in these cities in the face of Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector.
